The Balearic islands are the second most popular holiday destination is Spain after Catalonia. In total this island group consist out 4 large islands, known as Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca and Formentera, and 11 smaller islands.

The Iberians were the first to life on these islands, but many other cultures followed soon. In the 8th-century these islands belonged to the Moorish and served as a base for pirates in the Mediterranean Sea. In Spain this island group is called “Las Islas Balearas” and is one of the provinces of Spain and have their own capital, Palma on the island of Mallorca. The most important sources of income are agriculture, fishing and tourism, but they also export fruits, wine, olive oil and pigs.

For many years the 4 larger islands of the Balearic has been a popular holiday destinations for many European travellers. It’s therefore not surprising that these 4 islands have full facilities. Lots of accommodation options, bars, restaurants, discotheques and of course beaches all are present on all 4 islands. During the day you can get sunburned at the one of beaches, walk through the small city streets looking for a bargain or participate in some sports activities. During the night you can go out to have a nice dinner, go drinking in one of the many bars, go to a popular discotheque and if your lucky end the night on the beach with your new lover.
