As you know Valencia is located at the Mediterranean and is therefore an excellent destination for water sports and sailing. Valencia has one of the best regatta fields in Europe and is also the host for the 2007 America’s Cup.
It’s no coincidence that Valencia has been chosen host for the 32nd America’s Cup in 2007. The America’s Cup is one of the most prestigious sailing competitions in the world and for the first time it is going to be held in Europe. Valencia has a great marine tradition and, not unimportant, excellent sailing conditions along the entire coastline.
Because there are no high lands near the coastline of Valencia and the southerly winds (the Garbi and the Xaloc) that blow along the coast of Valencia, a 5 till 15 knots strong wind is guaranteed almost all year long. Throw in the Mediterranean Climate, many hours of sun & excellent visibility and you have created a sailing paradise.
Of course you can also go out sailing and experience these excellent conditions by yourself. Along the entire Valencian coastline you will find many yacht clubs, sports harbours and water sports companies where you can hire a boat or take sailing lessons.
