Kids

Kids in Valencia will not easily be bored. The old Turia riverbed running through the heart of the city centre offers many facilities for kids. A total of 58 children games are spread out all over the Jardín del Turia from Headwaters Park until the City of Arts and Sciences (Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias, Avinguda Autovía del Saler nº 1, 3, 5, 7, tel. +34-902100031). The city of Valencia is currently constructing a huge amusement park in Headwaters Park with rides for all ages and the City of Arts and Sciences already has a 6.4000 square meter playground, especially build for kids to have fun.

Rovella Area
Every Sunday from June until October children till the age of 14 can participate for free in many leisure programmes such as manual craft workshops (how to make a puppet from a sock) in the Rovella area. Here kids can also get their faces painted by professionals and receive sculpt balloons.

Gulliver Statue
A popular children attraction in the Jardín del Turia near the “Palau de la Musica” is a huge statue of Jonathan Swift’s creation: Gulliver (from the book: Gulliver’s Travel). Like in the book, Gulliver is tied up on the ground lying on his back. With the help of ropes and ladders kids can climb up against the statue and slide down along Gulliver’s arms and legs.

Beach
The beach is also a good place for kids and guarantees hours of fun. Besides sunbathing, swimming and building sandcastles, they can play in special playgrounds for kids or play beach volleyball on one of the prepared fields. At the Malvarrosa Beach there is a popular Kite-Flying area which is a popular activity in Valencia. Every year in April there is even an international Kite-Flying Contest held.

Valencia Zoo
Along the old Turia riverbed set in "Viveros Gardens" you will find the Valencia Zoo. The Valencia Zoo has over 150 species of mammals, reptiles and birds under their care. In a separate building, they also have 16 fresh and salt water aquariums with over 50 different species of fish living in them, making the aquariums come alive. For kids the Valencia Zoo has special recreational activities like storytelling and workshops. Kids can also participate in several special animal protection campaigns.
