Islas Columbretes
Valencia Connect > Travel > Islands > Islas Columbretes

The Columbretes Islands are one of the natural treasures of the Valencian Community. They are located 60 km off the coast of Castellon (Costa del Azahar) and a boat trip to the islands takes about 1.30 hours.

They are of volcanic origin and their solitude has never been interrupted but by the occasional lighthouse men and military expeditions. This isolation has allowed for the preservation of a unique eco-system in the Western Mediterranean. To make sure this unique eco-system is not being disturbed, only a limited amount of people may visit the largest island of the Columbretes. They have been declared a marine nature reserve in 1988 and host rare species of sea birds and fish. The Columbretes are one of the best spots for diving in Spain, but you will need a permit.
