When you are in Valencia, there is a lot more to see than just the city itself. Here you will find some travel tips to popular islands in the Mediterranean.

There are several islands near the Valencia coastline where you can go for a short trip. The most famous islands are of course Mallorca and Ibiza, 2 of the larger islands of the Balearics. Together with Menorca and Formentera these islands are among the most popular holiday destinations of Spain. Because of tourism these islands now are filled with hotels, bars, restaurants, cafes and discotheques especially along their coastlines. Mallorca is now internationally known for its wild and crazy nightlife during the summer months and Ibiza has become a major mecca to gay travellers.

Besides the so called “party-islands”, there also a couple of islands near the Valencian coastline that has been declared as protected nature reserves, very good for a short day trip. The Columbretes Islands (Costa del Azahar) are a group of small volcanic islands that serves as an important stopover for migratory birds. And only a short boat trip away from San Palo (Costa Blanca) lies the island of Tabarca, which offers some great snorkelling and diving spots.
