Festivals in Valencia
Every city, town or village in Spain has its own festival. These festivals vary from small one day events till huge events which go one for a whole week. The most famous festival of Valencia is of course “Las Fallas” when big sculptures of papier-mâché parade through the city and are burned at the end of the festivities accompanied by huge firework shows.
Besides Las Fallas there are a lot more festivals in and around Valencia which are worth a stop if you happen to be in the neighbourhood. Almost a hundred towns and villages have their own “Moros y Cristianos” festival, celebrating the liberation of the Arabs by Jaume I. Other festivals are “La Tomatina” of Buñol (the world's largest tomato fight) and FiberFIB in Benicasim (a 5 day music festival popular among youngsters).
