Valencia Connect > Travel > Beaches > Costa BlancaCosta Blanca

Located in the south of Comunidad Valencia is the Costa Blanca which means “white coast”. The Costa Blanca is one of most popular, if not THE most popular holiday destination in Spain of many foreigners of all over the world. Its long coastline houses many beautiful fine white sand beaches and there are a lot of facilities available. That and the excellent nightlife present in the larger cities, makes it so beloved.

The many beaches of Dénia are divided over the two areas, Marinas and Rotes that are separated from each other by the busy port of Dénia. Towards the north the coastline of Dénia covers over 10 km of fine and white sand beaches and have every facility available you could wish for. These are the most crowded and popular beaches of Dénia. The beaches south of the port of Dénia located at the edge of the Montgó Nature Reserve are more cliffs and rocky inlets, then actual sand. These beaches are better suit for diving rather then sunbathing.

Located near to the Peñon de Ifach Nature Reserve, the city of Calpe has a wide range of beaches along its coastline. Due to its small rocky coves, wide beaches and crystal clear water the coastline of Calpe is a nice beach holiday destination. The 2 main beaches of Calpe have full facilities and have a promenade next to them. Other beaches offer excellent diving, sailing or windsurfing conditions. Every year the long white sand beaches with crystal clear waters of Benidorm are filled with thousands of tourist of all over the world. Of course all the facilities are there, including a floating platform, windsurfing equipment rentals, a boulevard and lots of bars and restaurant located next to the beach. Before going home after a long night of partying many young (new) couples go to the beach to …… (you can fill in the blank for yourself). Just outside the coast lies the island of Benidorm which is an official marine nature reserve and a perfect place to go scuba diving.

The city of Alicante has several beaches along its coastline. A large and usually very crowded one is located right next to the city centre. The city’s largest beach (San Juan 2900 meters in length with an average width of 90 meters) has fine white sand, many facilities, an adapted area for disabled and handicapped people and many restaurants located next to it. During the summer months you can also hire windsurfing equipment on this beach. Only a short boat trip away from the port of Alicante lies the island of Tabarca (see our Island section) which is an official marine nature reserve. Even closer to the island of Tabarca are the beaches of Santa Pola. The coastline of Santa Pola is divided in 2 parts by the city harbour. The beaches on the west side of the harbour have calm and low waters making it an ideal place for both children and elderly. On this side you will also find a permitted nudist area. The beaches on the east side have fine sand and clear waters and are sheltered by Cabo Santa Pola preventing northern winds from blowing over them.
