Canovas

To the East of Russafa lies Canovas, often referred to as the ’posh’ part of the city - this is where the pijos’ (posh folk) apparently frequent.  It still houses the former mansions of Valencia’s wealthy, the tree-lined boulevards are packed with sophisticated boutiques and restaurants where ladies stroll with their well-groomed poodles and business lunches take place.  It is also a very lively area on weekends, the streets of C/Salamanca, C/Conde Altea and GranVia Marques de Turia are packed with an abundance of music bars, clubs, cafes and buzzing restaurants.

Despite it’s upmakret reputation, you can still hunt out a 1 euro beer or some 3 euros patatas bravas.  The pick of international cuisine here is enormous with Argentinean, Mexican, Indian, Columbian, Peruvian, Thai, Chinese and Japanese - this area really has got the lot.   It’s proximity to the Rio Turia park and Palau de la Musica also makes it a popular place to live although rents are high and weekend decibel levels can at times ruin a good night’s sleep.
